AccelRate Power Systems is proof that "high-speed" battery charging is commercially viable and is providing customers with savings in time, labour and space.
Today, within the industrial materials handling industry, AccelRate™ chargers are gaining universal acceptance as our world-leading partners and distributors identify customers who are putting our products to use and driving increased profitability.
AccelRate has initially commercialized its technology for the industrial market. AccelRate is also targeting the portable, power tool, transportation and military markets, among others.
AccelRate is working to realize several near-term objectives that include expanding our current alliances, optimizing the distribution channels for AccelRate products, continuing to build key customer/partner relationships, and augmenting our patent portfolio.
AccelRate's goal is to become the global industry standard by charging batteries quicker and making them last longer.
AccelRate High-Speed Charging technology is commercially available today for key applications in the industrial motive power market (forklifts and other material handling equipment) and can readily be adapted for a spectrum of uses including other lead-acid applications such as emergency back-up power, wheelchairs, airport ground support equipment, golf carts/neighborhood electric vehicles, and — using other battery chemistries — for deployment in portable devices,
power tools, transportation (automotive, electric bicycle and marine) and military.
High-Speed Charging technology developed by AccelRate uses a charge/discharge algorithm that enables a full state-of-charge 5X faster than conventional technology while extending battery life to its original capacity due to reduced heat during charging.
Lead acid – from 8-10 hrs to 2 hrs
NiCd – from 3 hours to 15 minutes
NiMh - from 2 hours to 20 minutes
Lithium ion : from 5 hours to <1 hour
This technology prevents build-up of the battery’s internal resistance by reversing the current, which forces the denser electrolyte away from the plates, resulting in a more even distribution of ions over the battery’s entire plate surface. As a result, chargers using this technology can maintain a higher charging rate to assure a considerably more rapid and complete charge than with conventional or fast charge technologies.
