SONIC was founded in 2002 to develop and utilize the world's only industrial-scale low-frequency sonic energy technology. These proprietary sonic energy enabled process solutions are referred to as "SonoprocessTM" solutions.
SONIC has identified and targeted 5 key industries - heavy crude oil upgrading, oil sands processing, waste processing of byproducts from the energy industry as construction materials, environmental treatment processes, and bio-processes for bio-energy and bio-waste treatment.
The Company’s first fully commercial SonoprocessTM proved Sonic's core sonic generator in the environmental sector for the remediation of sites contaminated with persistent organic pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs). The Sonic Treatment System utilizes a two-stage process to first extract and then chemically de-chlorinate PCB. SONIC has remediated over 20,000 tonnes of PCB contaminated soil in Canada and the USA. Our non-thermal and transportable system provides a permanent treatment on-site and is now internationally recognized and licenced as the most sustainable technology in its field. SONIC has now licenced the Sonic Treatment System both in Canada and internationally to integrated environmental management companies.
SONIC is now focused on other SonoprocessTM development, with particular focus on high value applications. In 2007, the company reached an agreement with Shell to develop applications specific to issues in the oil sands sector and formed PetroSonic Energy Systems Inc. to develop upgrading solutions fro heavy oil producers.
PetroSonic Energy Systems Inc. is developing a SonoprocessTM for upgrading heavy oil with a low cost compact plant. Cold “cracking” of heavy oil at low temperature and pressure enables field producers to avoid blending costs and meet pipeline specifications.
Our SonoprocessTM development continues to expand its technological base as well as new applications and industries. SonoprocessTM solutions for the energy, oil, construction and biological treatment are nearing commercialization phases, creating opportunities for the respective industries as well as investors.
Sonic Technology Solutions, Inc. is listed on Toronto's Stock Exchange Venture under the symbol SNV.
