Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corporation is a Canadian biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing proprietary drugs and drug delivery systems to improve the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
Tekmira, originally Inex Pharmaceuticals Corporation, was founded in 1992 based on the drug delivery technologies developed by Dr. Pieter Cullis, Inex's co-founder and former Chief Scientific Officer, and his scientific team at the University of British Columbia.
This work put Tekmira on a course to its first scientific platform, which encapsulates small molecule drugs, including chemotherapy drugs, and delivers them through the bloodstream to sites of disease.
The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol TKM.
